CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2025
By Pieter Fourie, National President
Dear Wing Riders SA Family,
As the festive season surrounds us with its warmth, light, and a touch of nostalgia, I want to take a moment to reflect on the year we have shared – one filled with friendship, adventure, and the unmistakable spirit that makes Wing Riders SA so special.
This year has been memorable in countless ways, but especially because we celebrated a truly remarkable milestone: the 40th Wing Fling. What began in 1985 as a simple gathering of riders has grown into a treasured tradition – a family reunion on wheels. From those early days at Rob Ferreira Resort to this year’s celebration at the Little Pilgrims Boutique Hotel in Hazyview, the Wing Fling has become a symbol of who we are: a community bound by passion, camaraderie, and the joy of the open road.
Over the past two years, we experienced the heartbreak of losing beloved members of our WRSA family. This year, we are deeply grateful that no such sorrow touched our Association. It is a blessing we do not take for granted, and we hold in our hearts the memory of those who rode before us.
Despite these losses, the year brought many reasons to celebrate. Our membership continues to grow, and it is heartening to see a new generation embracing the Gold Wing lifestyle with such enthusiasm. Our Chapters remain active and vibrant, with outrides, gatherings, and shared experiences keeping our bonds strong. And our finances – both nationally and across most Chapters – remain on solid ground.
One of the proudest achievements of the year has been the successful rollout of our new voting system. More than 90% of our members cast their votes via WhatsApp – a clear sign that we are moving forward together as a modern, engaged, and united Association. The goal of restoring the organisation to its rightful owners – the members – has not only been met, but embraced wholeheartedly.
We also introduced two prestigious new honours: the President’s Award and the Chairperson’s Award, recognising outstanding service and commitment within our Association. These awards are a reminder that the heart of WRSA lies in the dedication of its members – those who give generously of their time, energy, and passion to keep our community strong.
As we close this chapter and look toward 2026, my heart is full of gratitude. Thank you for your friendship, your loyalty, your enthusiasm, and your unwavering love for Wing Riders SA. Whether you are a rider, a pillion, a supporter, or a long-time member, you are part of something truly special.
This Christmas, may your homes be filled with peace, laughter, and the joy of those you hold dear. And as we greet the new year, may your journeys – on the road and in life – be safe, fulfilling, and blessed.
May the spirit of Christmas follow you into every ride, every memory, and every moment we share as the Wing Riders SA family.
For those who do not celebrate Christmas, may this festive season still bring you rest, joy, and meaningful moments with the people who matter most.
Warmest Wing Rider Regards,
Pieter Fourie
