2024 Festive Season Message from the President

CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2024

Dear beloved Wing Riders SA member and Motorcycle Enthusiast,

As we reflect on 2024, it becomes evident that history often repeats itself, with this year being no exception. Once again, we experienced incredible highs and deeply painful lows.

It is also evident that the highs are enjoyed for the first ten months of the year, with the lows typically following directly after the annual Wing Fling.

Wing Riders SA bid final farewells to two cherished members of our family. Johan Hattingh passed away on 7 November at the age of 77, with his memorial service held on 15 November. Just two days later, on 9 November, Rassie Sinden left us at the age of 69, and we laid him to rest on 16 November. Their absence leaves a profound void in our hearts.

Additionally, some of our members have faced the loss of loved ones, dear friends or family members during this year. To all of you, please accept our heartfelt condolences and know that you remain in our thoughts.

On a brighter note, 2024 brought tremendous growth. A significant milestone was the re-introduction of the Garden Route Chapter, with its “headquarters” currently in George. This chapter holds immense potential for further growth as members continue to make their presence felt across the region.

October saw the successful hosting of our much-anticipated annual Wing Fling. This year, Central Chapter was again host to this prestigious event. The central location attracted twenty members from the Western Cape, two from the Garden Route Chapter, and over fifty from Central Chapter. This event, once again, proved to be a resounding success, highlighting the camaraderie and passion that unite us as Wing Riders.

As we approach the festive season – or the “silly season,” as it is often called – we focus on the positive, uplifting spirit that defines us as Wing Riders.

I want to use this opportunity to wish each and every Christian within our association, a heartwarming experience this Christmas when we again celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Christmas is a time to reflect on your own being, the love and grace bestowed on us all, as well as our relationships with family and friends. It is once again our prayer that both you and your loved ones will celebrate this Christmas with a deep sense of gratitude and love.

To members of other faiths, may you enjoy a pleasant break from your normal activities, filled with joyful moments and meaningful connections with loved ones.

Please enjoy this festive season in high spirits, together with the necessary responsibility. Should your itinerary take you on the roads, please drive safely and remain mindful of other road users.

Finally, I extend my warmest wishes to everyone reading this message. May 2025 bring you prosperity, love, and fulfilment in abundance.

Warm regards
Pieter Fourie
