Central Chapter Mystery Run: 25 and 26 August 2018

A "Mystery Run" was organised by Barbara and Stefan Polessnig. No one knew the destination until shortly before arrival. The destination turned out to be The Nest Hotel, a delightful country hotel situated in the Champagne Valley in the Central Drakensberg area of KwaZulu-Natal. It is a World Heritage site and was built in 1933. History On 21 September 1849 David Grey of Cathkin in Scotland left with his wife and four children on the barque Aliwal for Port Natal (Durban). In 1855 he moved to The Nest on the Voortrekker farm bought from Opperman, which stretched well into the Drakensberg....

Central Chapter run: Toeka se Dae near Bela Bela on 22 July 2018

Members and guests departed from the Petroport on the N1, north of Pretoria, at 09:45 on Sunday morning. There were in total 55 people, 18 bikes and 14 trikes. Dias van der Merwe organised this lovely run for us and we were blessed with a sunny and cool morning. Our destination was Toeka se Dae, a unique farm stall situated on the R516 and 1 km from the N1 on the road to Bela Bela. Central Chapter run: Stonehenge Lodge, Parys dictrict, 24 June 2018

Members and guests came from Witbank, Pretoria, the West, East and South Rand and met at the final departure point at the Blockhouse on the R59. It was not too cold and everyone enjoyed a lovely winter run. The Gold Wings arrived at Stonehenge Lodge around 11:30. Stonehenge is a riverside lodge, conference and teambuilding venue, about 10 km on the other side of Parys. As guests entered Stonehenge, they were greeted by a large replication of the celebrated Stonehenge Monument. There was much interest from the public, many questions asked, and a number of people enquired about bikes and trikes for sale. Central Chapter run: Red Star Raceway, 20 May 2018

Members left the final departure point in Boksburg at 08:30 on Sunday morning to travel to Red Star Raceway. On arrival, coffee was the first item on the agenda as most members left home in temperatures somewhere between 5° and 10° Celsius. Quintin Coetser, manager at Red Star Raceway, entertained members with an extremely interesting talk on biker safety and most, if not all, learned a great deal.
