Central Chapter: Newsletter November 2018

Newsletter – November 2018 Hello to all the Wingers and Winglettes A number of items to be discussed – please take your time to read and respond where needed. Central’s “iron butt” competition: You will recall that we recorded the starting mileage of bikes and trikes by means of a photograph to me at the end of last year. The time has come to redo the exercise so that we can work out who put on the highest mileage in 2018. I have mistakenly told a few people that the rules stated that you have to be at the AGM...

2018 Wing Fling Awards and Trophies

Wing Riders of South Africa prides itself on riding the best touring bikes ever made. These bikes are not only amazing machines to own and ride, but are absolute show-stoppers when displayed in public. The annual Concours D’Elegance is a highlight on our annual calendar and is a time when our members get to really show off their bikes, not only amongst each other, but also to the general public. The 2018 Concours D’Elegance during the event of the 2018 Wing Fling, once again, was much more than a trophy and a pat on the back. The awards process is...

2018 Wing Fling

Central Chapter run: Hô-Kaai Bistro, Loskop Dam area and to Hendrik and Maria Sadie in Groblersdal

Members from Central Chapter travelled from everywhere to meet up at the last departure point in Witbank. From there we travelled to Hô-Kaai Pub & Bistro, situated next to the N11 between Middelburg and Groblersdal where we had a buffet brunch while enjoying our friends' company. By 14:00, some members went home and the rest travelled to Groblersdal where we stayed over at the B&B of Hendrik and Maria Sadie. We had a braai with delicious side dishes and Rita Schoeman's birthday cake for dessert. Thank you for sharing your birthday with us, Rita. Breakfast was fruit salad and yoghurt and...

President’s Chat – 31 August 2018

I should perhaps start by apologising for the deafening silence over the past five months or so. Work pressures have just been enormous, and even my bike has got about a month’s worth of dust on it. Terrible, I know. Anyway, welcome again to all Wing Riders from this corner of the National Council. As I write this, we are in the home stretch for Wing Fling 2018 with about a month and a half to go. All indications are that it’s going to be great, and so far about fifty members have confirmed their attendance. You should all by...
